Pulp Fiction

This movie is definitely unique. The dialogue is original as well as the plot. The director touches upon touchy subjects like religion. Whenever Jules kills someone, he recites a passage from The Bible because he says he feels like it would be scary for someone to hear right before they're shot to death. Also, there was an unnecessary scene of a rape, which is very uncomfortable and strange. As well as uncomfortable and weird content, there is a lot of dark humor in this novel which sort of evens out the uncomfortableness of the film.

One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Jules and Vincent are at the diner and Honey Bunny accompanied by her lover Pumpkin start robbing everyone of their wallets. Vincent goes to the bathroom and Jules is taking care of the young couple when Vincent comes out. Jules yells at him to stay out of it. When Pumpkin is sitting down with Jules, Pumpkin has the look of defeat on his face. He didn't get everyone's wallet and had to give one of the wallets back. I like this scene because Jules was being so serious, but there was that small hint of humor that made even more enjoyable.

I like action packed films and this one is no exception. The original dialogue combined with the dark humor makes the film remarkable and it's one I would watch again without a doubt. This movie is also brilliant due to the fact that everything and everyone makes sense and it all meets in the middle at the end of the film.

  1. What does the scene say about these characters (the diner scene, that is)? More on the dialogue?
